Paloma Scott, Registered Psychologist

Paloma Scott founded Insight Solutions Psychology with the vision of creating a place where children, teens, adults, seniors, and families with a variety of difficulties can feel they are heard, have insights and find solutions for challenges in their lives. Our goal is to genuinely help and support people to develop skills, build resilience and excel their lives towards growth, healing, plenitude and success.

Mrs. Scott is a Registered Psychologist in Alberta and she has over eighteen years of experience in the psychology and counseling fields providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, seniors and families from diverse backgrounds with diverse mental health issues. Mrs. Scott completed her Master of Arts (M.A) in Psychology in 2005 and has been a registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia since 2010, and a registered Psychologist in Brazil since 2000. In her professional career, Mrs. Scott has worked in both the public and private sectors, including schools, hospitals, and private practice.

Ms. Scott is a registered provider with Blue Cross, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC),  Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) and the Workers Compensation Board (WCB). In her private practice, Ms. Scott works with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, paediatricians, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologist, physiotherapists in order to provide support to clients.

Mrs. Scott has a great deal of experience working with children who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Specific Learning Disorder (SLD), Giftedness, Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Tics Disorders, etc. Additionally, Mrs. Scott works with people who have difficulties dealing with behavioral, emotional and social issues, including anger management, lack of emotional self-regulation, defiance, social isolation, divorce/ separation, grief/ loss and parenting issues.

According to the client’s needs, Mrs. Scott utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches, including the evidence-based approaches of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Habit Reversal Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Motivational Interviewing in order to support them. Mrs. Scott offers an environment of acceptance and genuine caring to promote the client’s growth.

To help younger children overcome their difficulties and behavioral challenges, Mrs. Scott employs non-directive Play-Based Therapy as an effective approach that provides children with a safe environment to freely express their emotions through play. Parallel to this process, Mrs. Scott provides parents with feedback sessions in order to bring awareness and provide behavioral and coping strategies to better support their child’s mental and emotional well-being at home. When working with older children and adolescents, Mrs. Scott provides individual sessions and parent feedback in order to optimize the parenting style and the family dynamic, when necessary.

Mrs. Scott is able to provide counseling to clients in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Roche Herbst, Registered Psychologist

Roché is a Registered Psychologist in Alberta with a specialty in psycho-educational, cognitive and psychological assessments for children, adolescents and adults. She has received her Masters Degree in Psychology at the University of South Africa in 2000 and is currently in the process of obtaining her Doctorate degree in Alberta. Roche assists individuals with gaining a better understanding of difficulties and issues related to intellectual functioning, psychological and / or mental health, social skills and behaviours. She provides a variety of assessments and diagnosis, including ADHD, learning disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD, ODD, auditory and visual processing disorders, and giftedness, as well as career assessment. Roché has a braod experience in the psychology and assessment fields, both public and private sectors. She knows what it feels like to live with ADHD and understands the tremendous challenges and opportunities for growth in finding meaning and purpose. Roche has lived, worked and travelled in many different countries with a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and lifestyles. Her goal is for individuals to embrace their uniqueness in building a more joyful, healthy and productive life. Roche provides assessments in English and Afrikaans.

Diana Johanson, Provisional Psychologist

Diana is a Provisional Psychologist, as well as is a Canadian Certified Counsellor. She holds a Master of Counselling degree and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours specializing in Psychology. Diana has over 15 years of experience working in public and private sectors with variety of diverse populations and concerns. She uses evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness. She is able to modify her approach to best fit the clients’ needs. She is fully certified in Reality Therapy and an active registered clinician with Gottman Institute.  Diana is able to provide proven assessment and interventions for couples with the application of Gottman therapy. Diana enjoys working with Children, Adolescents, Adults, Couples, Families, and Groups. In the past, she has facilitated children’s groups in the area of parental separation, divorce, school and personal functioning.  She applies Play-Based Therapy to younger children between the ages of five to nine and modified techniques with children over the age of ten. Diana’s areas of expertise are Emotion Regulation, Anxiety, Stress, Attention Deficit, Couples, Parenting, Relationships, Depression, Self-Growth, Self-Esteem, Addictions. Diana offers counselling in English and Polish.

Sadaf Waqar, Counsellor

Sadaf is a Counsellor who holds B.Sc (honors) and Master’s degree in Psychology with extensive experience in both clinical and counseling roles. She works with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families with several psychological concerns and uses different psychotherapy approaches according to each client’s needs including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Play-Based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Interpersonal Therapy. Sadaf provides counselling to people with depression, anxiety, stress, mood disorders, self esteem, family issues, relationship difficulties, anger, grief or loss, trauma, marital problems, experience of abuse, domestic violence and cultural adjustments. She has worked in hospitals and psychological centers. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process and assists clients to progress in life by identifying and setting life goals for better mental health. Sadaf is compassionate multi-lingual and provides counselling in English, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi.
